All are welcome to attend most N.E. W. meetings and events with the exception
of those that are designated "Members Only." Bylaws limit the number
of meetings a guest can attend to a maximum of three.
Our History
During the late 1970's, the Tampa Bay area was the subject of national
publicity that highlighted women's exclusion from the local power structure,
leadership positions and private club membership. In response, Ingrid Landis,
then an advertising executive, brought together a group of women to discuss ways
to create change. The outcome was the formation of the Network of
Executive Women, with Ms. Landis being installed as our first and only 2-term
president. Over the years, N .E. W. has attracted top-level professional and executive
members to its ranks and provided support to its members, women in need and
worthwhile causes. These include: Centre for Women [a resource for displaced
homemakers], LifePath Hospice [helping the terminally ill and their families],
Project Recovery [caring for the chronically mentally ill], The Spring [a
domestic violence shelter] and others. A founding member of The Compass Project,
N.E.W. continues to provide funding to individual women experiencing financial
hardship.
Improving The Lives of Working Women
From 1984 through 1995, and in 2004 N.E.W. proudly hosted the "Executive Woman of
the Year" [EWOTY] Awards. An annual event that attracted hundreds of
attendees, speakers of national prominence and an abundance of media attention,
EWOTY bestows recognition on Tampa Bay area women who achieved power and influence
while also displaying a commitment to the advancement of women and the community
at large.
